GRADUATE INTERN FINDS SOLID GROUND....

Summer 2003

Dr. Rizzi,

I learned quite a bit at the Institute.  .... This book [The Science Before
Science
] established foundations so that I was somewhat prepared

for the internship.  There was no preparing for the intensity however.
During my brief week in Baton Rouge I participated in numerous
discussions covering topics from science to religion and most things in
between.
It was a struggle to grasp new concepts and to look squarely
and truthfully at long held beliefs that were being challenged.  Needless to
say it was very important to have another fellow intern going through
the same process.  Steve was a great help during the week and I feel it
important to continue having more than one intern at a time.  My week
in Baton Rouge has helped me to be able to discuss issues and ideas
with scientist and hopefully start to get them thinking about relevant issues
as well.  The Institute laid down a very solid groundwork with which to
grow and mature from.
Thanks for all your hard work both before and during the internship.  It
was much appreciated.
